Could any one give me some examples where
1. each of these words fit properly
2. we can not replace these words in place of each other. i.e we have to use fear and we cannot use afraid.

Thanks,

.
1--
Fear is a verb (as well as a noun) and is relatively formal: The dictator feared retribution. His fear was abject.
Afraid is an adjective and is relatively neutral in register: I am afraid of spiders.
Scared is an adjective and is informal: I'm scared of spiders.
Scare is a verb and is an informal synonym of frighten: He scared me with his mask.
.
2-- I can think of no absolute cases offhand, though no doubt there are at least some fixed phrases in existence.
