Hi Torsten
I could give you a purely aesthetic point of view.
But would prefer if you gave me a hint as to what you wish the logo to communicate.
I like second version of number 4, as I see this forum as overlapping different functions. Honing English and general discussion.
The slogan is good but maybe "aim to succeed with us" is better.
It is something that is hard I know, we spent 2 weeks discussing our new trans-lingo logo.
www.geocities.com/stewart_tunnicliff/index.html
And now it has had time to settle it grows on me day by day.
So would suggest using one, and seeing how you like it in 2 weeks. _________________ Please meet Stewart Tunncilff |

hi dear Torsten, i guess he dark one would be good, of course you have to see all opinions and make a decision, but one good thing relating to a human being, you have to be simple. I like yellow, dark blue is fine, but most would like the light blue. _________________ Joao Mª H. Fonseca

. I like #2 in the first 2 versions better than anything in versions 3 and 4. The little image has more class. . _________________ Native English teacher at Mister Micawber's |

Hi Charles, thanks for your input. But doesn't the symbol in # look like an arrow that is pointing down? To me this means that english-team is going down rather than up .
By the way, how do you like these logos which were created by HappyTofita: happy_logos

. First, my sincere apologies for stumbling into this thread so late in the game-- all you need is yet another opinion, I'm sure!
1-- I didn't see an arrow at all. I saw a classy English gentleman in a cardigan, and I liked that image. It is clean-cut and businesslike-- neat in appearance yet informal in impression.
2-- Others of the Versions 1/2 logos are also neat and clean-cut, but the images are abstract (or at least too abstract for me to identify without careful perusal-- whereas I saw the fellow in the cardy immediately). Your Versions 3/4 show that same extreme abstraction, and those intersecting balls have been overused, in my estimation-- they seem to appear everywhere in logos these days, from Boolean algebra to the Olympics.
3-- For me, Happy's suffer from the same problem (for me) as Version 2 No 5 . I think wobbly, casual lines or typesets and/or clashing colours project a careless image. For more informal subjects (modern art exhibitions, billboards) they are fine. I like neat, simple, concrete, restrained.
4-- My presumption here is that the English-Team is 'good-natured but serious in its goals', 'enjoying life along its way, but not to be distracted by the extraneous'.
JUST my personal opinion-- I do not pretend to speak for any interest group. (I also don't like the way my wife dresses.) . _________________ Native English teacher at Mister Micawber's |

Hi Charles,
Thanks a lot for detailed feedback, your reasoning makes perfect sense. Now, what do you make of 9d? Would that be too casual for your taste? I mean it's not just two intersecting balls -- it's two happy people speaking to each other.
Please let me know what you think. Regards, Torsten _________________ Test Of English for International Communication TOEIC Preparation & TOEIC Vocabulary |

Ack! Too much like a smiley!

| I need your opinion about these logos. |
Happy1 is very nice, very simple and tasteful-- I like the orange and grey and their distributions. Happy2 is terribly dated and generic-- it looks like my elementary school book cover in 19XX ('way back). Happy3 is garish, and those circles (again!), which seem to have no meaning, only serve to break up the 'team'. The typeset is boring.
Thanks for listening. If you think this criticism is rough, you should read my poetry critiques. . _________________ Native English teacher at Mister Micawber's |
