Hi, why don't you start using words that exist instead of chopping the few words you know?

Why on Earth would anyone want to cheat in an exam ?. Accepting tips to improve your learning is an acceptable issue, but CHEATING.???
Just what value would you put on your certificate ?. You know you cheated to get it, and now you are hoping to pass on your non-existing knowledge to others. Unbelievable.!!!
Far better to fail, and be honest with yourself, than live with the knowledge that you cheated your way through an exam. _________________ Keep it simple ... Keep it interesting. |

| It is really great....Everyone should ask them self why do they want to pass this test...for a score, or there is a higher purpose to that?!!I am disappointed, people do learn for numbers and scores instead obtaining any knowledge...Don't you all want to find out how well can you manage alone with your capabilities....?If you do cheat will that be a prove to you that you can handle in English speaking environment, and in the end to whom will you cheat not ETS i presume, but your glorious self? |

Hello Sabi, I am not quite satisfied with the heading of your topic. I think you would have rather give the topic as "tips and tricks that will help you to improve your score". This is just my own opinion.
Don't hesitate to sent those tips and secrets because I have given a second thought to your topic. Looking foward to hear from you soon. Best regards Nzuahp _________________ Practice makes perfect. |

Well. The topic was alarming but maybe created to grab attention.
Request moderators to change the topic but keep this conversation.
Anyways, I was born outside the US but had been brought up there since I was 5 years old. A lot of complications later, mainly to do with racial bias and unfortunate economic situations, our family moved back.
I had a revelation at my (most recent) TOEFL test - people who rarely conversed in English or had no exposure to English discourses etc could potentially score MUCH HIGHER than me on the TOEFL!
The TOEFL is not the test it claims to be at all!
Although I doubt you can cheat on it, I am sure anyone can beat it provided they know the strategy.
The correct way to learn English (read, listen, speak, write) had taken a lifetime for me to know, and still I am rife with mistakes.
Yet, on "simulated" TOEFL tests, people with even a fractional exposure to English - compared to what I had, scored in multiples of what I did.
The instructor confided in me - lamented I would say - that these guys could not carry out a conversation in English for the life of them, but they could ace the "speaking section" with their eyes closed.
Just think about this - a crucial exam like TOEFL - that sometimes makes the difference between you getting a job or not or you being able to pursue your dreams or not - is so weak an exam that you can beat it in 2 weeks without ANY working knowledge of English. |

I dunno what you mean by cheating in speaking. I know in general, a few, not many, occasionally listen to others' speaking before starting their own speaking section, and trying to guess what topic the others are talking about, and write down those points, and then start their own speaking.
That means, (unless they are very fast) they will usually end the exam a lot later than the rest. And very noticeable when they do speaking while others are already in writing section.
Of course, TOEFL iBT has no way of forcing people to start Speaking right away after they come back from the 10 minute break. To avoid any unnecessary complaints and problems.
However, this is not unknown to iBT staffs. Whether you consider it a cheat or a "trick" or "strategy", if you are lucky, you may get away with that. Nonetheless, all site administrators are required to report situations such as this, and other unusual activities ie. going for many breaks, etc. (nicer ones might warn you before they report you). I know, because I am such admin.
As for in reality, maybe you'll get away with that, if the examiners in India or wherever feel lazy. |

as for the whiners, com'n, C'est la vie. It's your devotion that's being tested, not (or not just) your background experience. If you could ace a Chinese version of "TOEFL" (or TOCFL), and not able to get a date in Chinese, I'm sure they'll still give you an A. So stop whining. |
