Jam between two people? #1 (permalink) Thu Nov 20, 2008 12:51 pm   Jam between two people?

Hi, can the word 'jam' be used to describe a short piece of music created by two or more people? I'm asking because I came across this sentence: "This jam between Phil Burk (California), douglas irving repetto (New York), and Jason Freeman (New York) was recorded on February 3, 2005." and it's the description of a short video/audio file.

Many thanks,
Torsten

Hi Torsten,

Let me try to reveal the answer (to coin a phrase) and suggest that it's a shortened form of 'jam session' when musicians improvise as they make music together.

Hi Alan,

Thanks for that -- so a 'jam' is just a jam session. Interesting expression. Maybe we should start having jam sessions here on the forum. Slava is going to implement an online voice recorder so our forum members will be able to record short voice messages here on the forum....

Regards,
Torsten
