I think you should use "a value" or "values".

Hi Suresh,
I still think you should not use "the" in this case, even though you literally only entered a known value into it. The use of "the" here implies that only that value works and others may not. An edit box, I assume, is designed so that people can enter different values in it, right? If you design it so that only THE value is entered, then you might as well hard-code it with THE value.
