1. Sally got a goose egg for her math test.
2. Sally got a goose egg on her math test.
3. Sally got a goose egg in her math test.
4. How did you do for the spelling test?
5. How did you do on the spelling test?
6. How did you do in the spelling test?
Which of the above sentences do you think is NOT acceptable?
PS. #5 is quoted from a dictionary? #1 and #6 are quoted from an Englishman.

.
I think I confused myself with the 'NOT', so I am re-editing this list drastically. NOT Acceptable:

1. Sally got a goose egg for her math test.
4. How did you do for the spelling test?
.

There-- that's better. Sorry for the confusion.

In and On issue:

I saw this in English news paper: "Mister S in Jane's team."
But it should be "Mister S ON Jane's team" ?

Thanks,
Suresh
