Hi, I'm Jieun. I just joined this community few minutes ago. So.. nice to meet you all!

I have some essay writings to do and I was wondering if there are any great alternatives to the expression "advantages outweigh disadvantages."
In my essays, I usually have to write about advantages and disadvantages of something and I almost always use the same expression! It's become so boring and I would like some more creative expressions!
Can you help me with this? Wink

Many thanks!

The pros outweigh the cons
The benefits exceed their absence

Maybe someone else has more interesting ones...

That one is not really English. If you don't believe me, google it.

You can also say "the positives outweigh the negatives", "there are more positive aspects than negative ones", "there are more advantages than disadvantages", "it has more to recommend it than..." (Google that last phrase, and you'll see how people finish it.)

If I think of more, I'll tell you.

There is not much English that is really English !!!

I have known that phrase for only 40 years or so ??? With the world at about... um .. millions of years old ... maybe 40 years is not enough...

Anyway, who said it has to be of English origin. I thought only in English would be enuff !!! (smirk)
