In the given set of materials, the reading discusses the main ideas of restorative justice and the lecturer points out more details about restorative justice and the feed back
applying it.
First the reading, identified the concept of restorative justice, and summarized its main ideas into three points. Restorative justice tends to involve all members of the crime
finding the solution and how this will prevent the repetition of the offence. This means
it will focus on the offender and the victim rather than focusing on either of them alone. The listening has clarified these ideas with even more details.
And according to the lecture, it was made clear by the lecturer that restorative justice can not be a solution by its own. It only can be a part of a bigger one. And due to
lack of evaluation, restorative justice was not fairly and well judged. It was also apparent that there were some problems applying this type of justice, where some of those people involved in applying it were of deeper knowledge of the offenders if compared with the victims. Clearly the details in the lecture simplifies the theories introduced in the reading.
