"You have your grandfather sign on your marks sheet/progress card."

I mean, this kid has to get the signature of her grandfather on her progress report/marks card/marks list.

Is the above one correct?

Thanks,
Suresh

Hi,

'Have someone do something' is fine. Example: They have someone clean their house every week.

The only problem is with the collocation "sign on". We would say, "You have your grandfather sign your report card," without "on".

To "sign on" usually means to agree to join something, such as a labor movement, a government agency or a club. "He signed on as minister of the interior."
