Hi anyone,

I am new to this form. I was born in Vietnam. I live in USA in the sunshine state California. I am Chinese and I speak Cantonese, Mandarin, and English. My occupation is a social worker. I enjoy helping and understanding people's thoughts and feels. I work with people who suffer from many mental health disorders and family issues. Since my work is very taxed, I balance my life by doing hiking, drawing, watching Hong Kong television series, traveling, knitting, making gourmet food and resting. I reason I joined this form because I feel that I still need to improve my English skills. After all, English is my third language that I am learning and would like to master it. English is a difficult language for Most of Chinese because we don't have alphabets instead we have characters. It is totally a different language. It's night and day.

Hi Gray,

Thanks for your response. I agree. The best way to improve any kind of skills is to practice it and intergrade it into our lives. So what brought you to this form? Looking at your personal file, it indicated that you have joined this form around two week before I have. What is it like to learn English on-line with people who speak either one or more languages of their own native language? What is your native language? Do you speak it everyday besides speaking English?

We all have the same purpose ...to learn languages and everything we humans know eventually end up in words. Be it my mother tongue, yours or what we are learning...English...they all connect us to each other in a very meaningful way. I couldn't imagine our existence without language.

To answer you, I speak my mother tongue at home. And I cause annoyance by asking many questions in this forum :)
