You first need to change your habits. Apparently you have developed the habit of ignoring basic rules. That's not a good foundation if you want to learn English. _________________ Test Of English for International Communication TOEIC Preparation & TOEIC Vocabulary |

Thank you for this opportunity! I really want to improve my writing skills. Here is my essay about job interview. Tell me please what you think about it.
All the job interviews I was passing were similar and rather uninteresting, so I doubt I can amuse you with a conversation at this subject. A personnel manager is usually a middle aged woman, that glares at you and you CV like a police-officer. She can give you a cap of tea, but she never smiles and asks you about hobby, politics or journey. Perhaps she has no time for it; perhaps she thinks it has no connection with your professional duties, so there is no point in speaking about it. Really, how important for an employer is information that a security guard likes to collect butterflies? And a bookkeeper can swim the crawl and in addition perfectly knits socks? So the personnel manager just scans your CV and asks you pointed questions trying to clarify how much you overstate your skills. Then you ask pointed questions pretending you are not interested in money, but at the same time trying to discover how much they pay here. The personnel managers really don't like such questions, for some reasons they sincerely think that candidates dream to get job in their company for love of the work. Then if your skills can be tested right away, they can ask you to perform some task. And as far as your work will be appraised by your potential boss rather than the personnel manager, there the interview comes to the end. The strict lady promises to send you a letter, you promise her not to move away from a mail box. |

Well, I found it amusing.
Interviews are not supposed to be amusing. Strange you didn't realise that.
The interviewers task is to, ascertain that you are suitably qualified for the position for which you are applying.
Your task is to prove that you are, by providing your qualifications, and demonstrating your abilities. If you can perhaps throw in a few jokes whilst doing this, then there is a good chance of getting the position. Good Luck.!

Thank you, Kitosdad! Of course the interviews serve the practical purpose. But day ago I came across an article about the job of personnel managers in which an author advises to smile and speak with applicants about politics, religion, hobby, diet and journeys. I was surprised because in Russia the interview is the much more boring thing. That is why I wrote this essay. But what about my mistakes? It's my first essay in English and any criticism is welcome. |

| You can improve your writing skills by always practicing. Just like everybody says that practice makes perfect. |

Vermilion, it was a good essay, with remarkably few errors. There are a few English people who wish that they could write so well.
If my German were as good as your English, I would be elated. Thank you for allowing me to read and edit it a little.
Kitosdad. Now, how about making a Voice Recording.? It should be good, judging by your written work. _________________ If you need me, I'm here. |

Thank you, Kitosdad, thank you very much for your correction and appraisal of my work. I am also embarrassed… I think, you've exaggerated. I've just had a good dictionary My spoken language is really bad. The point is that I've begun to study English on my own, for reading, and studied it only on books. Now I read a lot, but I made my first attempt at speaking only two months ago, when I began spoken English lessons. Aloud I hardly can put two word together! But I get a real charge out of writing – thank you for supporting – and I going to write something else, and to stop being afraid of writing on the forum Please, shove me everywhere you see my mistakes. |

I guess i've finally found some forum where i can test and improve my writing skills. I also wanted to write very smartly, which would impress the readers, but i don't think so i'm doing that. Learning grammer or having a good vocabulary is not enough, until unless one doesn't know to put them together i n words to attract the readers. one can improve his or her writing skills only by continously writing on subject, along with getting corrected about the same. I eally look forward for this forum and hope my wish come true to become an effective writer.
well.. I expected that someone would reply to my post. But I'm not sure how to carry on further seeing the response from the forum. Can anyone suggest me some other site or forum where I can put forth my understanding of english and also be analysed. A response would me apperciated.
Thanks, Sonali |

Hi Sonali,
You can improve your writing skills if you start to capitalize the personal pronoun 'I' and if you use a spell checker. Also, you should start each sentence with a capital letter and read this: It's grammar, not grammer! _________________ Test Of English for International Communication TOEIC Preparation & TOEIC Vocabulary |

I would be very happy if someone could point out any grammer error and show me how to correct it. I desperatly need help in improving my writing skill, so it is very important for me to receive a feedback on my essay. Thank you very much!!!
Assignment 8: think of a technological advance that has made a big difference in your life. Did it seem important when you first heard of it? What convinced you of its importance?
As we enter the new century, more and more advanced technologies emerge. Advanced technologies bring many conveniences to people’s life. Of course, the advanced technology also affects my life deeply. For example, flash drive is a useful tool that plays an important role in my study. However, when seeing the “flash drive” for the first time, I thought that small and fragile thing would never be useful to me. But as soon as I got into High School; I realized how convenience and useful is a flash drive can be.
First, a flash driver helps me organize my homework well. After getting into high school, I get more frustrated to organize my homework. My homework always seems like a “melting pot” in my binder or in my school bag. Sometimes I loss my homework and as a result, I miss to hand in my homework on time. After seeing me having a hard time to organize my homework, my father suggests me to use a flash drive. At first, I don’t trust that little thing. It is so small and fragile, and I don’t know how it can be helpful to me. However, after trying to use it for a few times, I fall in love with the flash drive. Instead of carrying a stack of paper to school, I put all my written assignments in my flash drive. Whenever my teachers require us to hand in homework assignments, I just simply plug my flash drive into a computer and print it out, instead of searching it through my school bag. Furthermore, after starting using a flash drive, I never hand my homework late in class. Second, a flash drive saves me much time in my study. For example, my English teacher always requires students in my class to proofread or edit each other’s essay in class. For some students, they make corrections on their classmates’ papers in an “illegible way”. It is not because their handwritings are unreadable; but because the corrections that they make on others’ paper are messy. I, however, don’t have that kind of problem because other people can use a computer to edit my essay, which I always saved on my flash drive. As a result, I don’t need to retype or correct my errors at home. I can finish it all in my class. Even though I don’t trust the ability of the flash drive when I first see it, I realize that the flash drive can be very useful in many ways. Not only can a flash drive keep my school assignments organized, but it can also save me much time to do homework. Thanks to the invention of flash drive, without it, I will not excel in my classes. |
