Ok, I realized my very first mistake is the misspelling of "grammar"... I know it is not "grammer" but "grammar". Sorry...

This is my homework, talking about an activity that you do in free time in front of the class.

An activity that's supposed to be the most activities I like is planting.Maybe it's because my mom and dad like planting. Really, I prefer to go around and see plants or flowers, while my parents grow them. However, I sometimes help them water the plants. Once I’ve planted spinach and a gourd. And a few days later all of them died but gourds. They grew and grew and then they climbed along the fence. At last, the fence is covered with full-grown gourds. Nevertheless, I love to see them bearing fruit although I can see only their leaves right now.

Oh, I'm so embarrased =)
Thank you

Hi...everyone #170 (permalink) Tue Jun 09, 2009 8:00 am   Hi...everyone

Please allow me to introduce my self, my name is Agnes, and I was born in Indonesia.I'm now work in Taiwan, I find this forum by google-ing "how to improve my english".I have some problems about writing, somehow I don't know how to express my idea, and I really think I need to read more.

English is not my mother language, but I found it interesting, then I started to learn it by myself.I started my learning by remembering songs lyric, and listen to some of the television interview shows.

I want to improve my writing skill, so that I can write something more academic, and not just using an elementary level english.I know english is language to communicate with others, but somehow I really think my grammar, tenses, and idioms are really bad.So what can I do,if I have to read more, what kind of book will you recommend?I like to read National Geographic, but still I don't think I improve much. Thanks a lot for your patience, waiting for anybody advices.

Best regards,
Agnes

How can I improve my writing skills? #171 (permalink) Fri Jun 12, 2009 16:33 pm   How can I improve my writing skills?

Hi, every body. I want to improve my writing skill very much but I don't have time to join the class. But now, with this forum, I can practice whenever and without fee. Now, I want to writing about my journey.

On last my holiday, I had a terrible and jolly trip. Perhaps, you don't understand why there are both of the terror and jollity in a trip. I'm explaining for you right now. About one month before the set off on that journey, my friends and I had planned for that. But someday before that journey, I had been sick. So I had felt tiredly when I went to the air port by bus. But it was really terrible when the plane took off. It's the first I go by the plane. And I couldn't describe that sensation. That time, I only wished the plane land at once. But the plane touched down after two hours. And I thought about the horror of the returned flight. But I didn't feel tired immediately when I saw my friends (I have two friends who live anther city). In the long time, we hadn't met together so we were very happy. It's the first time I go to that city (where my friends are living). My friends carried me to visit their city. Next day, we had a tour to Da Laf, the dreamlike city. We had an interesting journey. At the end of my trip, the returned flight wasn't been horrible as I thought before. Now, you know why my trip is terrible and jolly.

I'm very glad when you help me to correct my writing. Thank you very much.

Hello every body

I would like to write something to improve my writing skills. Its my pleasure if anyone have time please to read it and corect it.

Paris Trip
Last weekend I have planned to visit Paris with my friends. For this purpose We bought train ticket from Erlangen to Paris. We took train at 9.00 pm from erlangen and reached Nuremberg at 9.30 pm.From Nuremberg we took another train for Augsberg and reached at 11.00 pm.From Augsberg we took Night Liner Coach for Paris. After travelling the whole night we reached at 11.00 AM at Paris. It was very surprising for us the train was one hour late, becasue during the stay in Germany we have not any experience too late train. When we entered the Paris city we were very happy because it was our dream to visit this beautiful and histrocial city.At first we went to the hotel ABIS,which was already booked for us one of our friend who live there. When we took the Metro train it was very amazing for us to travel it ,because it was first time we travel this train. When we reached the hotel we were very tied. After taking a short rest, we have planned first of all to visit the Efel Tower.
Its enough for today,I will continue it if get any response, because it was first time I write somthing in english.

Hi Muhammad,

Many thanks for posting your text which already looks very good. There are few basic spelling and typing mistakes you can correct yourself by reading the following: http://www.english-test.net/community/index.html#How_can_I_improve_my_writing_skills

Once you have done this, we can make some suggestions regarding your grammar and style.

Best regards,
Torsten

First of all I am very grateful Mr Torsten for his rapid respond and encouragement to write more:
After taking rest when we planned to visit the Eiffel Tower,we took a Metro train and reached the place of Eiffel Tower,it was beautiful evening and a very huge crowed of visitors were already there to see this beautiful and wanderful tower. One of our friends who live in Paris was also with us and he briefly describe the historical events regarding the tower.it was built by Gustave Eiffel in 1889.At the moment our feelings were amazing to see the hight of the tower and its history.Really it was a wonderful job who performed this. Now we have decided to go to the top of the tower, but suddenely we realize the waiting line of visitors were so large it was difficult for us we took chance to go up at the standard time which was fixed by the administration. Our guide (one of our friend) told us its better we come proper time nextday for this purpose. After that we went to the park beside the Eiffel tower where we see the lighiting of the tower which makes it very beautiful at the midnight. Now it was time 12.00pm and we went to our hotel room for rest.Next day early in the morning first we have decided to visit the famous meusum Musée du Louvre. The Louvre is an attraction of the famous art.We spent a lot of time to visit its all gllaries, which really admire us.After that we have visited the famous places Jardin du Luxembourg,Place des Vosges and famous churches. The important part of our visit was not completed without view the whole Paris on Eiffel Tower,so we reached there and after waiting two hours we susceeded to go to the top of the tower. At the top of the Champ de Mars, the tower boasts of some of the best views in Paris. We all enjoyed a lot during the visit of all historical and beautiful places of the Paris.Next day taking the memories of Paris visit we all returned.
Thanks
Muhammad Basharat

Hi Muhammad,

There are still spelling and typing mistakes. I think you should see your writing before send it. It helps you to bring down mistakes.

Hi Thirupathaiah,

We use could to say that something is possible (could is less sure than can). And we use could to ask, offer people to do things (in formal) or give permission. We use should to say that something is a good thing to do or the right thing to do or we expect it to happen. We use should after a number verbs, ex: suggest, propose, recommend, insist, demand or after number adjectives, ex: strange, odd, funny, natural. surprised, interesting, typical. We use would to ask, offer, invite somebody to do something.

I hope you help me to correct my writing.

Thanks

Peace Homeland

Mostly you hear something about Iraq when you are listening to news at the broadcasting or TV channels ,did you ask yourself why?, that's because -as I think- Iraq is the land of war. In the past ,Baghdad (the capital of Iraq) was called "Pease Homeland" and in fact, it is one of the opposite meanings names ,since it is a war land along its history periods. Iraqi people used to face the successive blood periods with great sacrifices each time.

Six years ago, Iraqis had left the most suffering period of their state history. It was the great dictatorship represented by Saddam and his fascist Party tools. As a result of this great transformation operation, some reactions had happened and caused a confused situation making the Iraqi people sinking in their troubles, and the name "peace homeland" of Baghdad became the rose dream that sails in everyone's mind inquiring about that lost peace.
The random emotions under the pressure of variable events generated a new version of people, a version who is always frustrated and scared of the future which may be worse than what happened. But I expect, in spite of my great losses, the future will be good because it will be made by the Iraqis themselves.

Where can I learn to improve my writing skill? #180 (permalink) Mon Jun 29, 2009 17:24 pm   Where can I learn to improve my writing skill?

I'm just a new member in this forum. My goal is to improve my English skills, especially writing skill. I am very bad at writing, so I've tried to find somewhere to study this skill. Could someone please tell me some good places? Thank you a lot.
P/S: Is it possible for me to have friends who live in countries in which English is compulsory language? I think one of best ways to learn a language well is talking with the native. I'm 17 and live in Vietnam. Hope to be friend of you!
