Don't think too much of using 'one'. And forget about the poor queen, the tough old bird. Not many people attach importance to her public utterances, but everyone thinks her English has got to be impeccable and imaculate just because she gets 200 mio. quid pa. for looking chaste on telly.

Improve Written skills Fri Dec 07, 2007 15:00 pm  Improve Written skills

Dear Chandu,

Many thanks for joining our forum. Could you please tell us more about yourself? Why do you want to improve your writing skills? One of the topics you can write about is how you are learning English. For example, how much time do you spend listening to English and how often do you read books or articles in English?

I look forward to your response.
Best regards,
Torsten

IMPROVING ENGLISH WRITING SKILLS Sat Dec 22, 2007 19:03 pm  IMPROVING ENGLISH WRITING SKILLS

Dear Torson,

I was through with tests given by you and I have done good. Now I am better compare with my past performance and now I dont have fearness in writing english. I improved a lot in spending daily some time in this forum.

Daily news paper is so useful for me to get some new verbs with sentence formation. But we have to choose the best english news paper.

If we want to go for a test what we need to do first? Do we have to go for test directly or do we have to read the story and then go for test? Please clarify.

Reply me

Hi Chandu,

It's great to hear you have been able to improve your English language skills by using our site. As for your questions, you can go to the tests directly, answer the questions and if you want further information on a particular item, simply use the "Click here for Explanation" link and post your question here on the forum.

Regarding your speaking skills, there are several things you can do:
- listen to English dialogues (movies, audio books, etc.)
- repeat the phrases your hear on the recordings
- record your own voice on your computer and compare your phrases with the original versions
- use Skype to find native speakers you can talk to
- find English native speakers in your local community and talk to them

Let me know what you think.
Regards,
Torsten

How can I improve my writing skills? Sun Jan 06, 2008 12:36 pm  How can I improve my writing skills?

Dear All,

My is Hery, currently I am studying in UNSW. I am Civil Engineering student. Beside play Basketball, I like to swim. At this moment I am in school holiday, so I have sufficient time to work and improve my English.

Despite I have been in Australia for one year, I have difficulty in communicate with English native speaker in here. I really have a problem with my writing and speaking. The major problems are I did not write oftenlly and did not communicate much with English speakers. In order to overcome that problem I did research in google and I found this forum, where I get post my writing and someone, hopefully someone will criticize me if if there are errors.

Before I start to post my writing, I just wondering is that any particular topic we should post, or I may post any types of writing regardless the topic?

Thank you very much
Hery
