I'm not sure exactly when I'll get to Winnipeg - it depends what happens while I'm here.

Please explain me why there is Future Simple after 'when' in above sentence, why not Present Simple? I though it should be 'I go to Winnipeg' in this sentence.
When should I use Future Simple after 'when' and when Simple Present?
What is the difference?

Thank you very much.

Hi,

Interesting question. Usually after 'when' and 'if' we use the present simple to give the idea of future. But we can use 'will' or contracted 'I'll/we'll' and so on in indirect and direct questions. The example in your sentence is one of the indirect question type and is an answer to: When will you get to Winnipeg?'.

What are indirect and direct questions? What is difference between them? Please give me examples.

Direct question: What's your name?
Indirect question: He asked me what my name was?
