Countries should not isolate themselves from the world but instead they should engage with other countries
In our era of globalization and breakthrough technological discoveries the isolation strategy, in my opinion, although it can protect a countries tradition, this policy is not only ineffective but counterproductive also for the countries following it.
Commercial and technological growth is impossible without the development of international relationships. For example, the promotion of local products to international customer group is essential for the steady growth of the country’s economy, not to say the world’s. Therefore a cultivation of its external affairs is an indispensable move for the country’s industrialization.
Culture, the other aspect of a country’s civilization, cannot expand without the sharing element. Renaissance, Greek science and philosophical insights, Confucius and other eastern philosophies and the American constitution (the right for the pursuit of happiness) all of them would be passing comets rather than bright stars of hope and change if it weren’t for the sharing element founded at countries around the globe. As we see the isolation method has short and long term side effects at the country following it.
Thirdly, looking back at history we see that the phenomena of racism and propaganda usually foster where the label “stranger” can easily be put from one nation to the other. Anti-Semitism, German American and Russian propaganda (during World War II and the cold war respectively) and American segregation are few examples of how ignorance for the other nation lifestyle can foster these methods. In that case a country’s isolation method will set at risk the very future of its society let alone their harmony.
Finally, the belief of autonomy achievement through alienation methods such as prohibition of abroad channels broadcasting or commercial partnership is false. Since every human deserves to enjoy the privileges of the modern world like computers medicines and a variety of food which an isolated country is almost impossible to provide.
In conclusion, my point of view is that the phenomenically advantage of this method the tradition security is shattered since the cultural and economical growth is strongly supported from the externalization strategy.
