What do you want most in a friend someone who is intelligent, or someone who has a sense of humor, or someone who is reliable? Which one of these characteristics is most important to you?
"With the difficulties in my life, if i didn't laugh i would die" Linkon said to stress to reduce our stress. But even a thousand quotes and strategies to reduce anxiety are not compared with joking with your friends. Therefore, almost all of my friends have a storng sense of humour.
Now why humour is more important from intelligence for me is because i don't need to be exposed to the latter aspect. Knowledge from books, music, news and discussions with my family or at forums is far more enjoyable than inteligent friends with no sense of humour. I like to relax with my friends and forget my concerns. Not to analyze complicated issues and maybe even argue over unimportant complex issues.
The population of the globe is more than 4.5 billion people. So if a person is not reliable i can always find a more self-controlled and thus trustworhty person. But on the other side a strong sense of humour may even cover a incident of unreliability. Because humour requires inteligence and a spiritual easy going perspective to be combined is quite rare. It is trully a "treasure'.
Funny people have motivated me more than the intelligent phrases and comments of intelectual people. This is because when i have many concerns a good joke will snap me back to reality. And refreshed i will be more effective and peaceful during the challenging moments.
To sum up i use humour as criteria for choosing friends because they perfectly fit with my needs. Although i appreciate intelingence and trustworthiness a good joke must be a permanent trait of this person. Imagine how boring life would be if we didn't laugh at her face? |
