Hi Teachers,
Please correct the followings:

1. The mother made (for) them sweets.
1a. The mother made sweets for them.
2. I read my children the story book.
2a. I read the story book for my children.
3. He built the homeless man a shelter.
3a. He built a shelter for the homeless man.
4. I baked him a cake.
4a. I baked a cake for him.
5. Did she hear him go out?

The correct sentences are 1a, 2, 3, 3a, 4, 4a and 5.

1 has incorrect word order and should be either, "The mother made them some sweets," or, "The mother made some sweets for them."

2a would be better as, "I read the story book to my children."
