Please tell me the meaning of these words! #3 (permalink) Mon Dec 15, 2008 5:32 am   Please tell me the meaning of these words!

to the new esl student these words may sem to mean the same thing but by degrees they quite, donnot. I will try to illuminate these vagaries below:

Ache is Big Auntie Melba sitting on you, Pain is Big Auntie Melba falling on you.
Aid is FEMA sending you a bottle of water, help is the Coast Guard sending a helicopter.
Brad Pitt is attractive, Sean Connery is handsome.
Big is my penis, large is my imagination
Dinner is food, supper is also food, who gives a crap.
Little is your imagination, small is your pinkie fingernail.
Place and location are entirely interchangable unless, place is used as a verb, then it's a whole different deal.
Sad and unhappy are prolly the same, but who gives a shit? Unless you are painting a picture or writing poetry/neoself-important descriptive prose, noone really cares how you FEEL!
Teach makes you pass, educate makes you smarter.
Also bears the connotation of "in addition", "too" portrays simply "one more"
