as it is = as is (?) #1 (permalink) Mon Dec 15, 2008 7:25 am   as it is = as is (?)

Hello,

Could you ask the maid to leave my room as is?

In that sentence, I think as is could be replaced by as it is. My dictionary says 'as is' is an informal and spoken phrase. Is it a form from 'as it is' withought 'it'? What do you think? Is there any difference between 'as it is' and 'as is'? I think I can put as is where I can as it is.

Thank you for your answers in advance,
sweetpumpkin
