Hi there! I'm Candy from Vietnam. I'm learning Interpreting English. For me, in the future, listening and speaking skills are the most important. My speaking skills is not so good, but I'm trying to improve it little by little, day by day. My listening skills is not good at all. Actually, when I use my computer at home. I can here and grasp most of the things people say. However, when taking tests at school, things change. Maybe under the pressure of the test, u know time, serious feelings, etc partly make my effectiveness reduce. Another thing is when I do exercises for translation lessons, it's quite hard to get the point of the writer too :) Hope that this online course can help me! :) Thanks Candy |

Hi Torsten, A winner for me is the person who always meets the challenge .Yeah! his speech is "I want , then I can",a winner tries and tries and doesn't stop , he's always carful . Besides , he does all his best to get what he wants .He doesn't be tiered whatever happens .If he loses the first time , he'll go on , until he gets what he wants. He says usally "If we can change the world so it became better , the bird 'll sing in happiness his new birth".Me I surly wanna be a winner , wanna do a big prosper to improuve my favorite language which is a mean of communication for people from all over the world .However , wind doen't go always wherever the ship like : I the usally activities don't allow me to do all what I want .But I'll eventhough this I'll try till my language become perfect, and this is "CHALLENGE". |

Hi, Torsten, I think I am on a way of being winner. I am trying to achieve it not only in my learning of English, but also in my life and my studies at the uni. I know why I am studying Engish. At first, I relate my future with science and English is a language of science (as well as Chinease...). The 2nd reason might be that I feel more self-confident when I am able to communicate with people from all over the world and join a students exchange programme. In addition, as it is written on the page about winners, learning English gives you the opportunity to expand your social and professional network far beyond the borders of your country. I found the book really useful and readable. After school I have changed my way of studying, and German language which I was studying at school bacame important just when I graduated, bacause I reaslised that I could speak it and I have to improve it... However, I failed even then. I started learning Engish and put many efforts into it. At the moment I could say that my life forced me to learn English, I entried the uni and almost all studying matierial was in Engish, and I started reading and translating it into my mother tongue. for me learning words by heart doesn't help, only reading and listening helps me. I started listening BBC and I have been doing it for a year, it helps me repeat the words and eventually to use it in my speech. Somehow I managed to find a placement in a laboratory in UK, I'll go there during the coming summer. I wrote an email for a group leader at the Uni of Bristol and I feel about leaving there, cause that one of my goals I had when I started my studies was to join students exchange. Of course, I am worring about my speaking and listening skills, but I know that I've been doing my best since the period I started. I was looking for a house and I decided to share it with native speakers and I was successful in this. In relation to Engish grammer I want to improve my knowledge about prepositions and linking words... Maybye, someone would like to suggest something suitable for me? :) |

Hello Torsten. I am Rabi Isah, from Nigeria, i work with a Consultant Firm as Secretary to the company. I want to be a winner by the grace of God. I have challenges in english language. first, essay, secondly in knowing how to apply punctuation mark appropriately. Hello Rabi,
Welcome to the forums. I think you've made a very good first post for someone who says they have 'challenges'.
Two little things which you can do which will immediately improve your written English, are to remember that the pronoun 'I' is always written with a capital letter, no matter where it comes in the sentence, and English is always written with a capital E. "Lastly, I want to know how to speak English fluently and correctly as if I am born with it. But I thank God for everything." _________________ Cheers m' dears! |

You can start trying the test questions here, Rabi. Also, if you look at the links written in light blue at the top of any of the websites pages, you will see there are links to grammar, articles, stories, etc. which will help your learning. _________________ Cheers m' dears! |
