What exactly are lexical errors in English?

Greetings:
Can someone give me some examples of lexical errors in English? By the way, are lexical errors in English like a foreign speaker of English calling a “zebra” instead a “striped donkey” because he doesn’t know the correct lexical term?
Any advice/information/examples anyone can give me in this matter is greatly appreciated.
