Q: In some countries, teenagers have jobs while they are still students. Do you think this is a good idea? Support your opinion by using specific reasons and details.
A: It is a common practice in some countries for teenagers to have jobs while they are still students. I believe it's a good idea because having a job as a student promotes responsibility, saving money and independence - important characteristics to be successful in life.
Having a job promotes teenagers' s responsibility. Most teenagers rely on their parents to provide them essentials such as shelters, education and love. They were raised without having to worry about money. By working, students learn first hand the value of working and come to appreciate what they have and understand they have to work for what they want. There's a saying "There's no free lunch". By working, students will become more responsible as a person, an utmost important trait for one to amount to anything meaningful in life.
Secondly, most teenagers when they work start out with minimum-wage. This shows them it's not easy to earn money and they earn what they work for. Students will think twice when they spend money of their hard-earned wage and become more economical.
By being responsible and economical, teenagers also become more independent. Working, earning money and spend them raise student's self esteem. They become more mature and better equipped to deal with future problems than those that don't work.
To conclude, working bring a lot of benefits to teenagers while they are still students. They become more responsible, economical and independent. All these characteristics will make them better equipped as they grow up. |
