Hello,
In the transcript of this TOEIC listening part IV, set 3, exercise 2, the first sentence is a question or a Yes-No question. However, a full stop has been inserted instead of a question mark. Could you please verify this matter?
Here is an excerpt from the transcript:

Hello,
In the transcript, a word has been left out in the highlighted sentence, but it has been recorded by the audio. The omitted word is “for” preceding “many years for Lehman and Sons”. Could you please verify this discrepancy?
Here is an excerpt from the transcript:

Hi, it's good to meet you all. My name's Joe Coleman, and I'll be working in accounting. I grew up in San Diego, and I have a BA in political science from Malibu University. Before coming here to Martz Brothers, I worked six years as an accountant at Marshall & Boyer in Salt Lake City, and for three years as comptroller at the Sexson Company in San Francisco. I've been married for five years now, and we have two kids, ages one and three. My wife, Sarah, worked many years for Lehman and Sons before taking time off to have children. Now she's trying to...

The first sentence is not a question but a polite request.

This sentence is fine without the prepositions 'for' which is often omitted in modern American English. It's similar to saying "I'm home" instead of "I'm at home" or "I'll call your Monday" instead of "I'll call you on Monday".

Hello Mr. Torsten Daerr,
Subject: Ladies and gentlemen, can I have your attention please. We regret to inform you that a thunderstorm in Chicago has delayed several flights. Bluebird Airlines Flight 963 to... #1191 (permalink) Mon Oct 31, 2011 12:14 pm Re: Wanted: Feedback on TOEIC Listening Exercises.
Thank you for pointing out the first sentence is a polite request. I agree with you on the highlighted sentence is a request sentence. But then, such a request sentence requires a question mark at the end of the sentence.
I found a request sentence similar to the one that is being discussed. It needs a question mark. It is found in the last example of the definition 1 under the headword “attention”: http://oald8.oxfordlearnersdictionaries.com/dictionary/attention.
By the way, I disagree that without any supporting context, just “Bhikkhu1991a wrote:” is used with the excerpt “Ladies and gentlemen, can I have your attention please. We regret to inform you that a thunderstorm in Chicago has delayed several flights. Bluebird Airlines Flight 963 to...”. Such a case is easily misled and misconstrued as if the excerpt is my personal information. As you and I know this excerpt, it is extracted from the transcript of TOEIC listening part IV, set 3, exercise 2 ( http://www.english-test.net/toeic/listening/airport_employee_is_announcing_flight_delays_through_loudspeaker_system.html). I would appreciate you taking note of this because I want to avoid getting into trouble with any parties.
Thank you.
Best wishes, Bhikkhu1991a. |

Dear Bhikkhu1991a,
Many thanks for your constant support. I have inserted the question mark as you suggested.

Hello,
There is a discrepancy between the audio and the transcript of TOEIC listening part IV, set 3, exercise 6. According to the audio, “than” has been recorded, but it has been left out in the highlighted sentence of the transcript. The word “than” should come immediately after “longer” but before “I’ve been alive”. Could you please verify this matter?
Here is an excerpt from the transcript:

Hello,
On Apr 28, 2011, I reported the interrogative pronoun was inappropriate for Question 2 of TOEIC listening part IV, set 7, exercise 1. However, since then, no changes have been made. Could you please verify this matter?
The reason I reported was the correct answer to the question was a place, “At a business meeting”. Therefore, the appropriate interrogative word is “Where” rather than “What” according to this test.
Here is the letter I posted on Apr 28, 2011:

________________________________________ Hello,
The interrogative pronoun is wrong in Question 2 of TOEIC listening part IV, set 7, exercise 1. Instead of “What”, the proper interrogative pronoun is “Where” because the correct answer is at a business meeting where the talk is probably taking place. Could you please look into this matter?
Here is an excerpt from the TOEIC listening part IV, set 7, exercise 1:
2). What is the talk probably taking place?
At a business meeting -- CORRECT In a university classroom At a credit union In a restaurant
