Hi Sivakumar,

Please do not mind but I am rectifying your post itself:

Hello Mr. AlanMr. Torsten,
Could you please give me the detailed explanation and example sentence about usage of "as"?, as I am confused.

Please do reply.
Thanks,
Sivakumar.

I have already used 'as' in the rectified post above :)

"As" as a conjunction introduces a subordinate sentence (Noun - Verb)
Examples: "He sings AS you DO".
"Behave AS your mother TOLD you".
"Do it AS you KNOW how".

"As" as a preposition preceding a noun (Preposition - Noun)
Examples: "He works AS a LAWYER"
"He plays AS a PROFESSIONAL". (He is a professional)

"He plays LIKE a PROFESSIONAL". (He plays with the same skills as a
professional although he is not).

Hope this will shed light upon you.
God bless you and merry Christmas.
Cisco.

As (conjunction) you can see (verb after pronoun) I try to learn English too. And like (preposition) you, (pronoun after pronoun) I have some difficulties.

Gos bless you all, merry Christmas to all!!

Please correct me if wrong. :D

He arrived as a tourist. = He was a tourist.

He arrived like a tourist. = He arrived in the same way as a tourist, but he wasn't a tourist.

Like you... = similar to you...

As you... = when I am you...
