The word "number" as an adjective #1 (permalink) Sat Dec 27, 2008 4:15 am   The word "number" as an adjective

I have just done the TOEIC verbal word list#W96, there was such a question:

7.

adj. anesthetized; lacking sensitivity (to pain); in shock; senseless

Correct word: (b) number

----

I looked up the dictionary and couldn't get such definition of the word" number". Actually, I don't think I have ever seen this word being used as an adjective.

Could anybody help me ?

This doesn't make any sense to me. Are you sure there's not a mistake somewhere? What were the other choices?

The word should not be "number". It should be "numb".
