I just googled (a synonym for 'Internet search' these days) "carbon footprint" :)
From Wikipedia (a reference work on the Internet):
"The carbon footprint is a 'measure of the impact that human activities have on the environment in terms of the amount of greenhouse gases produced, measured in units of carbon dioxide'."

Hello Gray,
Hehe, I really appreciate your effort to help :). However, carbon footprint here is a kind of metaphor, I think so, and it has nothing to do with real carbon dioxide. |

Yes, it is a metaphor meaning foot prints left behind due to polluting activities. And those foot prints are visible in the form of carbon dioxide. I hope these footprints will take you to the meaning :)
