Hi there,

Sentences below are taken from Archies Comic strips:

1."Now daddy I think Archie got real possibilities"

2."sure maybe if a meteor clipped him on the head and changed his personality

Why there are past tense in Clipped, changed???

thanks

Number 1 can't be directly from an Archie comic, because it is in terrible grammar. It should read, "Now Daddy, I think Archie has got real possibilities," or, "Now Daddy, I think Archie's got real possibilities."

"Clipped" and "changed" are in the past form, because the sentence is in the conditional mood.
