Hi Mouhcine,
I don't think Jamie believes in omens. :)
As for myself, I am wishful. And I hope I'd make wise decisions along the way so 2009 will treat me fair. |

The woman got a five-liter box of Franzia Chardonnay, and I've put down my fair share. Yay.
I made another culinary breakthrough -- Bolognese sauce, or at least my amateur version of it, with vermicelli:
- 1 can Hunt's Traditional spaghetti sauce - About 1.5 lbs ground beef - 16 oz. vermicelli (standard box) - About 1 cup Chardonnay (white wine) - About 3/4 cup milk (I used 2%) - 1/2 large white onion, diced - 1 carrot, diced - 1 clove of garlic, minced - About 1 tablespoon thyme - About 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning - About 1 teaspoon salt - About 1 teaspoon pepper - About 1 teaspoon garlic salt - About 1 teaspoon parsley - About 1 tablespoon sugar (if your spaghetti sauce is already sweetened, unlike Hunt's Traditional, you won't need the sugar) - Olive oil (enough to coat the bottom of a pan)
1. In a very large saucepan or skillet, sautee the onion, garlic and carrots in the olive oil. Heat should be medium-low. Cook until the onions are translucent and the carrots are a bit softened. 2. While this is going on, cook the beef and the vermicelli. Drain the water from the pasta and the grease from the beef and set both the beef and pasta aside. 3. To the vegetables, add the wine and all spices and sugar (if necessary). Turn the heat up to medium and bring to a simmer. Stir a few times and let it cook for a few minutes. 4. Add the spaghetti sauce, beef and milk to the wine/veggie/spice mixture. Stir occasionally. Simmer for five more minutes or so.
Pour the finished sauce over the pasta. Top with thyme and Parmesan cheese.
