Good morning everybody.

I need your assistance on these two words, please, how can one clearly distinguish them?

"She is not here, however, so the subjunctive expresses that fact appropriately/properly. Again, If only she was has drifted into modern usage and should be avoided."

'Appropriately' doesn't speak about correctness, 'properly' does. I don't think that 'properly' is 'proper' here. Over to natives :)
