Please help me. It it correct to say "I helped mother in cooking dinner." or is it "I helped mother (to) cook dinner."
What about "doing this helps in removing stains" Is this okay?
I helped mother in removing stains?

I would use I helped mother cook dinner I helped mother remove the stains. Doing this [need to specify what "this" is] helps remove the stains.
