what is the difference between poem and lyrics #1 (permalink) Fri Jan 09, 2009 17:56 pm   what is the difference between poem and lyrics

Hi all,

Would like to know the difference between poems and lyrics. Can poems become lyrics or vise versa..? Both are seemingly poetic sentences with rythem and balance of words with a core subject to denote. But why some are called poems and some are categorized as lyrics.

Thank you everyone with reasonable explanation.
