Expression: She's much prettier in real. #1 (permalink) Sat Jan 10, 2009 8:26 am   Expression: She's much prettier in real.

Hi,

I have a question on the phrase 'real'.

She's much prettier in real.

In the sentence above, can I say 'person' omitted after 'real'? I mean, the original sentence is like this : She's much prettier in real (person). What do you think?

Thanks in advance,
sweetpumpkin

She is (much) prettier in person.

That`s how I would say it.
To me, a person is real, therefore, I would not use "real" and "person" together in the same expression/sentence.
Let`s see if an English native speaker sheds some light on this one though.

It's an ungrammatical sentence the way it is.

It should say, "She is much prettier in real life."
