Is there any difference between these words (impact, influence, effect)? Dictionaries explain influence tharough effect and impact; to affect is explained as to have an influence/impact. So I am getting more and more confused which is which/

Plus when I say that something has had a negative influence on XYZ, is it the same "something has affected XYZ in a negative way.

Thank you.

.
The words are indeed rather synonymous as commonly used. An impact is usually more dramatic, while an influence tends to be less direct.

Yes, have a negative influence = affect in a negative way.
