Do you know that famous novel _____________ by Miss Li? #2 (permalink) Fri Jan 16, 2009 6:22 am   Do you know that famous novel _____________ by Miss Li?

Both options are perfectly correct, but they don't mean the same thing.

"Do you know that famous novel written by Miss Li?" says that Miss Li wrote a novel, and it asks you if you know the novel.

"Do you know that famous novel was written by Miss Li?" asks if you know that Miss Li wrote a famous novel.
