Hi dear Tom,
This is Maya here. If you remember and I'm sure you do, I sent some private messages to you. Thanks for your responses and I 'm gonna tell you about myself now. I come from Georgia. Alas not from US,ha.ha,ha. Everybody thinks I'm from the USA, Georgia. It would be not bad but as you know '' East or West, home is best''. You got the point? right? Yeah, exactly, My country is the best place for me as it's my MOTHERLAND. It can't be changed or exchanged with another. Same like: Can you change or mother? the answer will be: not, not & not. never ever..!
Of course it doesn't mean that I dislike another countries ot nationals. I am very impressed and influenced by American and British culture. Actually by all Europian Cultures. Well. I won't speak so much about this here so long, but would like to go back to introduce myself. The capital of Georgia is Tbilisi and it lies on the river '' Mtkvari, which devides the city into two parts. There are not so many inhibitants living in Georgia, approximately 5 million people only.( funny it is, if we compare it to china. around 15 million living in Beijing nowdays, maybe more..)
Well I am out of my country more than 7 years, travelled & worked as an English instructor in UAE, Dubai, which is very interesting and incredible city itself.
Now I'm living and working in Beijing, China as an English instructor. My Students are from different social fields, like Construction business, Hotel & Spa, Resourts, Hair and Beauty. Restaurants and so on. Untill now It's not easy to find a full time job here. The reason is that teaching positions are welcome mostly for native speakers of English. So dag my chance out of the ground to find some freelance jobs like above mentioned. The students are taking basic English Course with special phrases and expressions related to their businees. I love teaching and love my students. It makes me proud and happy when after the end of classes they say thank you to me. You can guess what does it mean for non-native speaker to be appreciated as the English teacher by students. I am here on the forum to improve the knowledge and become mere succesful and near native English TEACHER. THANK YOU AGAIN FOR GIVING ME THIS CHANCE. .. And to the end I have some Georgian joke. I don't know if you like it, but anyway I'll try to tell it. So the story goes here: One country man is visiting a big city. He has nobody to look after but only a bird, domestic one. I t's a Turkey. He loves this bird so much that he carries it everywhere with him. So he came across the University Squire. He sees there are lot of pegeons on the grass field over there. He thouht: Ahaa, It;s a nice place for my turkey to get lunch and nice place for me to close my eyes for a while. So he fall asleep, as he was tired. Suddenly he felt somebody touching his arm. He jumped immediately and saw a policeman standing there with his grinny face. ''-Excuse me, sir , but you shouldn't bring this bird here. Turkeys are not allowed in this park''! -said policeman politely. -''Why?'- the country man asked rudely. ''Don't you play with me like this because I am a country man.I see lot of pegeons having fun here, why not my turkey? '' he began angry. ''hm, the policeman thought a little and then replied: '' They are allowed here because they are the birds of ''PEACE'' . The countryman opened his mouth, but quicly gave the answer to him. ''' .. And what the hell you're thinking of my turkey? You think that my turkey will start a WAR? !

It is really a big problem for Englih learners. As far as i am concerned, i think willing is the wind when you sailing in the sea. And the good habit is the skill for learners to control the boat and themself. Maybe the good learning method is aslo a habit or in another word, the good habit is the best method.
Also in China there is a old sayings: Do not fear going slow, only fear standing still.

Hello, everybody! Why people do learn English? Different reasons: job, studying, foreign friends, travelling etc. But I think these are less important reasons, I would say these are technical ones. In fact, we just want be wise and we get the other human knowledge. I concern that in the definite moment our native language's space become so narrow that we,d love to face the new culture. Nowadays English is the international language, Englishspeaking (?sorry) culture is heard everywhere. That's why it comes in the beginning, I expect. If we'll be lucky this local interest will going to become a habit so we'll start to study other foreign languages as well.

Hi everybody
I agree with you that practicing is the most important tool to improve our speaking, listening, and writing skills. Personally, I try very hard to do that by reading some daily newspapers, via internet, listening to news or movies but sometimes I face a difficulty in understanding very well. When speaking, i feel ashamed of making mistakes or usuall i don't have a partner to talk with so i try to speak with my self. Is it a good solution?
Many regards
