Hello dear teachers,

would you please tell me if there is any difference among the three sentences.

Steve: I went Hawaii last week.

Maria:
What did it look like?
What was it like?
What was it like that?
How was it?

Steve: wonderfull.

Thanks a lot.

As far as I understood, Maria wanted to ask about the journey andor Hawaii. I doubt whether first three sentences really fit here...and one of them is incorrect too.

What did it look like? -- doesn't fit
What was it like? -- doesn't fit
What was it like that? -- grammatically incorrect

Only, 'How was it?' is apt.

Native advise to wait for :)

Actually, "What was it like?" is OK to use also. 1 and 3 are not appropriate as Gray noted.

I agree with Kanjikook. What was it like and How was it are both correct.
