Why not say: 'I have bought tickets for Friday.'?

Here, both phrases are OK. 'What about you' seems to me to be slightly more insistent than 'How about you?'

Hi Khan,

'What about you?' is more what we'd call 'up front' where you are being more direct in your question. 'How about you' is a more friendly and sympathetic way of asking.
