Hi, have you ever been to an Elevator Pitch contest? My wife and I went to one last night and it we greatly enjoyed the event. It was most popular of its kind in Germany -- organized by James Parsons, a British businessman. Last night there were 13 'pitchers', speakers who were given 3 minutes to convince the jury and the audience that their business idea or product was the best.
The interesting thing about the Leipzig Elevator Pitch content is that all the participants and jury members speak English all the time. Out of the 13 pitchers only two were native speakers of English, one was French and the rest were German.
Our favorite pitcher was Ian Spring from Ireland. He started his pitch with a question that went along the following lines: "At some point in your life you certainly have asked yourself this important question: What does a cow make when she is standing in the middle of a field in Ireland?" That grabbed the audience's attention.
So, what about you? Have you ever tried to do an 'elevator pitch'?
Thanks, Torsten
