As you probably know your regular teacher is not able to take your class today as she has had an accident. Over the weekend she got her feet stuck in wet concrete and before she could get away, the concrete had gone hard and had set.
As she lives alone and her neighbours were away until the following day, she had to stay in her garden during the night. Consequently she now has a terrible cold and won’t be back at work for the next two days. Now I don’t think it’s very nice of you to laugh at her situation and I must ask you to stop making so much noise. I can’t possibly teach you until you’re quiet.
Please be quiet and all of you sit at your desks. I would like to tell Miss Williams that while she was away, you all behaved very well.
This morning I want to talk about the homework that you did for her, which I have now corrected. I was very surprised that some of you have been very careless with your exercise books. Several of them were badly stained with coffee marks and one of them looked as if it had spent some time in a bowl of tomato soup. Will you please stop shouting and screaming.
This is a serious matter and I don’t find it a bit amusing. You will never learn anything if you keep on behaving like this. I am here to help you and recommend that at least you try to keep your exercise books in a proper condition. This classroom is also very messy. I am sure that the cleaners made the room nice and tidy and although you’ve only been in here about thirty minutes, you’ve already made it untidy. And what on earth is that strange looking stuff on the floor over by the door? Is that something that any of you are responsible for?
I’m going to find out exactly what it is and also who has put it there in the first place. And when I find out who it is, there will be serious trouble. Let me see. It smells like glue. Yes, it is glue. Oh dear! My shoes are now stuck in it and I can’t move. I’m as bad as Miss Williams!
