Ladies and gentlemen I am very pleased and also proud that you have chosen me in the recent elections as your representative.

It was a long and hard contest and there were occasions when I thought that we would probably lose as many of the views I was expressing such as free milk for all the cats in the district and free beer for all adults over the age of 60 were not always acceptable to some of the voters.

But I know I now have the support of all the cats in the area and all those pensioners will be delighted with the result. And of course if some of our older members also have cats, then they will be doubly happy. I expect you’re wondering how all these facilities will be paid for. Let me explain.

In order to meet the additional finance that my plans call for I intend to ask all those people under the age of 60 to pay three times the usual amount of local taxes. The other policy I am anxious to pursue is in line with my belief that we must all try to be greener in our way of thinking.

Global warning is an important issue nowadays. We want to be able to leave our grandchildren a world where they don’t have to worry about extreme variations in climate.

My very first task when I get home is to plant a tree in the back garden. I already have one hundred trees there but I hope I’ll be able to find room for just one more. We used to be able to sit in the garden when it was sunny before I planted all these trees but now we have to sit in our living room and look out on to the forest and watch the weather forecast on television to see whether the sun is shining. But then we all have to make sacrifices for what we believe in.

My next task will be to paint my house green in order for it to become environmentally friendly.

In conclusion I look forward to serving you in any way I can and if you have any questions about my policies, I shall be happy to answer them now.

OK - you've now heard Torsten read the first of my little stories. Now I'll read the first few lines again and then you try:

Hello,

Not meaning to offend anyone, but the punctuation is, at some parts, poor. It is hard for me, and I guess for the other members as well, to properly convey the message of the words when punctuation is absent. It's rather easy to get lost.

Best regards
