Hello everyone,

There are millions of people around the world who want to improve their English speaking skills. However, only a few of them know how to achieve that goal.

Speaking English requires a lot of practice and constant work. It's similar to doing a sport: Only if you practise it on a regular basis, can you get good at it. That's why we'd like to invite you to record online voice messages together with us here on the forum. Read this text out loud and record your own voice.

Post your recording on the forum so you can get feedback on your pronunciation, intonation and accent. We can even hold contests to nominate the best speaker or to guess the nationality of the reader.

When you are reading and recording this text, you have already overcome the fear of speaking English, which so many of us experience. Isn't that a great feeling? It's the start of your new life as an English speaker!

I would love to comment on some of the voice recording but unfortunately I don't have the necessary equipment at this time to play them. I notice that quite a few have posted the same script and I'm guessing this is what's being used as voice recording. I am going to try and play some of these when I get home. Hopefully I'll be able to find a way through the system so I can listen to the recordings.

Is it really difficult to speak English? #131 (permalink) Sat Nov 14, 2009 9:55 am   Is it really difficult to speak English?

Dear Torsen,

Once again I must thank you for the lessons. With regard to speaking I must say that I am not very fluent in English because it is not our mothertongue. But I followed a Masters degree course in English medium and I can mannage a little. I am not very very familiar with voice mails etc. that is why my participation is very poor.

Best regards

Hi Torsten, how are things with you. I am fine. You asked me if I continue interested in learnig English. There is no doubt about it. I have interest in learning English. I recognize that It is very dificult to me understanding the native speaking in normal conversation, but I have done many exercises of the toeic listening and everyday I have listened the "VOA" and BBC NEWS". I believe I will be improving my English as soon as possible. Regards.Cristovam.
