Of course learning to speak English is difficult. Very difficult, but not impossible.
I too would find it difficult to speak Chinese, Russian, Indian or Japanese.
It has taken me a lifetime to learn, and I am nowhere near finished yet. It is a constant struggle to learn the meaning of new words, and their correct pronunciation. Add to this the grammar, and you may well ask yourself, just why you bother if it is so difficult.?
It is simply that you don't have to learn it in a fixed time period. It is like learning any other subject. You first learn the basics, and you learn them well. Only by learning the basics really well can you ever hope to proceed to the more complex parts of the language.
The personal pronouns are the building blocks to any conversation. Without knowing these intimately you will be talking " baby talk. " There is no way that you can ever hope to master any language without a thorough understanding of the personal pronouns, so I would advise all would be English speakers to spend some time, nay, a lot of time, getting to grips with these little fellows.
Speaking written texts is very good for the practice of pronunciation, but what good is it if you don't really know what you are talking about.?
Let me go further. Perhaps you can read the text perfectly well ....... can you now sit down and write it, without looking, ensuring that you are stating all of the tenses and pronouns in the correct fashion.? When you can do this, then you have arrived.

Hello everyone,
There are millions of people around the world who want to improve their English speaking skills. However, only a few of them know how to achieve that goal.
Speaking English requires a lot of practice and constant work. It's similar to do doing a sport: Only if you practise it on a regular basis, can you get good at it. That's why we'd like to invite you to record online voice messages together with us here on the forum. Read this text out loud and record your own voice.
Post your recording on the forum so you can get feedback on your pronunciation, intonation and accent. We can even hold contests to nominate the best speaker or to guess the nationality of the reader.
When you are reading and recording this text, you have already overcome the fear of speaking English, which so many of us experience. Isn't that a great feeling? It's the start of your new life as an English speaker! |

Hi everyone! I think it is easy to speak English, but the first sentences I say when I am not used to talk English sounds very funny for a native speaker I suppose. /Maria |

Hello everyone this is my version of the text,
This will be a modified version of the original text and I will try to submit this without changing the core message and spirit of the text.
Although millions of people from all around the world dream about improve their English speaking skills, only a small number of them know the way in which they accomplish their wishes.
As it is the case of doing sport, speaking English requires practising on a regular basis. Unless people set their mind on doing constant practise, it is hard even impossible to reach the goal of speaking English. That is the reason why we would like you to involve in recording your own voice messages to the forum in compliance with the instructions. Please don't abstain from sending your voice messages to get some feedbacks from the masters of this forum on your pronunciations, intonations and accents.
We have put forward a proposal that we hold a contest of correct pronunciation and we will select the best speaker among candidates.
Please read this text out loud and record your own voice. If you are, now, recording your voice to the forum, you have already got the better of your fear of speaking, congratulations.!!
Take a step into the new life as an English speaker! |

Good Morning Bill,
I am trying to take time on writing or studying English, as well as practising some speaking in a continuous manner. As I write I am seeing that some phrases are being entrenched themselves in my treasury and this makes me rich in terms of using English easily.
It is hard to say that speaking English is like riding bicycle, this is not the case as it is in that event as it requires continuous effort, otherwise it can be very unfaithful to the learner.
I would rather to have a native speaker friend to consume what I know in English than studying from books. Having been aware of this reality I have decided to announce this forum and in particular you Bill as my friend to share what I want to write rather than writing on a specific subject. This doesn't mean I will never make comment or ask something specific, but as you guess it is hard to make people join in a conversation and receive some constructive critics from them and this results in some discontinues in such a chain.
That is all for the time being,
Best regards. |
