Hi Abid Rasool,

The active voice in English is used to show that the subject is the one performing the action, as in this example:

Laura fed the cats.

With the passive voice, the subject receives the action:

The cats were fed by Laura.

You can tell that a sentence is in the passive voice if you see the phrase "was <action> by" in the sentence. :)
