Hi Torsten, no problem, I won't delete my voice message again. I am somewhat disappointed with my first and second voice messages. _________________ Today is a gift, that's why we call it the present. |

It's not your fault but rather a technical issue which I'm sure we can solve. _________________ Test Of English for International Communication TOEIC Preparation & TOEIC Vocabulary |

I recorded a sound and uploaded it. It sounded OK when played back.
But the sound recorded by Infin1ty is definitely mangled. I have not heard a recording like that.
We use Speex compression to reduce the size of the file. It is designed to work with human voice. If there is music playing in the background then it will sound very bad. Perhaps there was a noise in the background when Infin1ty recorded his message that confused the Speex encoder. I seems to hear a buzzing that is as loud as the voice.
Infin1ty, could you please try to record a message using a different microphone in a quiet place? I would like to know if that works better.
I see that Torsten has already set the frameRate to "16000" and the speexQuality to "4". That should be pretty clean. So I suspect that the original recording was noisy. |

Hi everyone,
I can record my voice right now. I just change my browser to Firefox only. I guess the problem probably is the setup of the Internet explorer. Maybe I'll try to setup it when available. Thanks for helping me.

Hello PhilBurk,
Thank you very much for your message. I recorded my voice message in my room at about one o'clock AM, and I didn't play any music or something else on my computer, so the enviroument was quite enough I suppose. Like you, I didn't heart a recording like that too. Everyone's voice messages are fine. So, I think there may be some problems with laptop's integrated micphone or there may be some thing wrong with my system configurations. Unfortunately, I don't have another micphone at hand now, I'll record another voice message as soon as I get a new micphone. Anyway, thanks for you suggestion.

| Hi Torsten, in the Philippines we often pronounce "innovative" the American way. It's not surprising I guess since we also follow the rules of American spelling, like color instead of colour. |

. Hello Gray,
Your voice recording is a little low, so I cannot hear your words before you say, 'Could you please tell me?' If you have a volume control for recording, please turn it up a bit next time. . _________________ Native English teacher at Mister Micawber's |

Yeah, it was too low even for me. I just adjusted the microphone boost settings and it sounds much better now. The question I had was I couldn't relate my pronunciation with either American or British. Is it fine for natives to hear me this way?
And yes, this way of communicating through sounds is really interesting and much needed for non-natives like me. This also creates a sort of personal bond with others
Thanks for everything you are doing for us. We all really appreciate it. _________________ First lesson - English, not english. I, not i. ~A student of English |

. I cannot relate your pronunciation particularly to one or the other either, Gray, but you spell your name in the American way. However, your pronunciation is quite good, and I love hearing you this way. . _________________ Native English teacher at Mister Micawber's |
