Hi friends..

As you are all aware, reading habit will improve our vocabulary as well as grammar usage. In addition, if we keep on reading good novels regardless of fiction or non-fiction stories, we can soon get used to the styles of the language those writers sparingly use in their works.

From my boyhood I used to spend almost all my pocket money to buy or rent novels (historical novels run for many volumes in my native language) of thrillers, court trials, detective stories, science fiction and many more categories. I have read Erl Stanley Gardner (Perry Mason series), Agatha Christie, Robert Ludlum, Sydney Sheldon and many more of them.

Now a days people tend to ignore reading books as tehy used to sit in front of TV sets and/or PC monitors to while away the time. I want to get responses from friends who may have similar interest in reading books. Let us have a good time discussing the possibility of making the younger generation to take the habit of reading good books. Please let me ow your comments and views.

Hi all
Actually I am interesting in reading habit, I used to read good novels, specially drama and romance genre, it's one of the important basic to know new vocabulary, and also you have chance to let your imagination to swim in beautiful world of imagination , of course you will miss this opportunity that replaced by television and internet.
Even if we have high tech, I think reading habit still good and benefit basic for our knowledge.
Best Regards.

Thanks for your earnest response for this mostly-forgotten habit. Especially the young generations are much far away from ''READING'' as they are much interested in ''LISTENING'' or ''WATCHING''.

Let us join together to propagate the wellness of being a ''READER''.

Every day I used to read both online or printed matters for refreshing myself with current affairs as well as the language.

Hi Aryam..

You are well aware that the first verse of Holy Quran was reveled with just the word..''READ..!''

There are may verses in Holy Quran insisting the knowledge by reading. So reading is vital for improvement in all walks of life. Let us encourage our friends especially our younger generations to take the habit of reading at least to some extent.

Hey,

Could you define 'self help' and cite some captions?

Hi
Yes that's right the first word in Holy Quran is read (إقرأ) , Unfortunately nation' read does not read, but mainly, we must give an important role to reading, and connected this idea to the current generation, at least show to them how reading is very important.

There are two books you should read on a regular basis -- not just one time:
1. "How to Win Friends and Influence People" by Dale Carnegie
2. "The Science of Personal Achievement" by Napoleon Hill

I think they are similar to "The Science of Influence" by Kevin Hogan.

Hi Mouhcine,

If you read both books (the ones I mentioned) you will see that there is quite a difference between them and the one Kevin Hogan wrote.
