Sentence: She won't be back until Thursday. #1 (permalink) Wed Feb 04, 2009 1:38 am   Sentence: She won't be back until Thursday.

Hi,

I have a question on 'until' in the following sentence:

She won't be back until Thurday.

When you paraphrase it, you can say:
She will be back on Friday.

What do you think? Some say it should be "She will be back on Thursday".

Thursday or Friday

What do you think?

Thanks,
sweetpumpkin

Sentence: She won't be back until Thursday. #2 (permalink) Wed Feb 04, 2009 3:46 am   Sentence: She won't be back until Thursday.

Thursday.

My next question would be: 'What time does she get back (on Thursday)?'

She won't be back until Thursday. (when Thursday comes, she will be back)

another example...

I won't be finished this report until this afternoon. (when the afternoon arrives, I'll be finished)
I will finish this report this afternoon.
