I want to know what a good speed for a learnr of English i mean how many word per minute?
there is some sites that measure it.
I test mine and get some diffrent result... somewhere say is good somewhere say is weak?!!
in recording to that my native language starts at right section of paper toward left direction it is abious my speed should be slow and i should try it more and more.
can some one leave me his or her speed of reading? for compare and ...

Hi!
I think the average speed of reading (for a native speaker) is about 200 words per minute, though I have no idea what a good word count is for a learner of English. My word count is 120 words per minute, and I read really slow.

Hello!

I'm not sure, but I recall reading it somewhere.
I've been studying English since I was about eight years old, and I'm 15 now. But my reading speed has always been a little slow, so I guess you really shouldn't try to compare our results. How long have you been studying English, by the way?

Hi all..

according to the first url mentioned above..I was given a result of 170 words per minutes in that website..

I wonder who can read beyond 2500 words per minutes as the site says..

Quote:
" Supreme Speed Reader: You are qualified to be one of the supreme speed readers in the world, if you read at a speed beyond 2500wpm with over 90% comprehension. Please contact us and we will add your name into our supreme speed reader database.''

Is it possible even for any native speakers..?

and thanks for your answer. I know that shouldn't Compare ourself with Eachother But As One factor I wanted to know the average rate..mybe You know that websites are not trustable completly and anyone of them give a diffrent info So i mention it here...I don't know that mention it that my first languages and My mother language both starts from right toward Left of pages! It was main reason of geting average Speed. I was worried that Mybe it is reason of reading Slow in English But now I see I'm not Too far I can read at Speed 150-180 depend On text (average 160) with Good Comperhention.
I want to progress Fast cause I like to learn more languages So I have to push Myself More.
I'm Learning English About 6-7 Year but with some long time Leaving It several time..this time I really want to be master of it.

Hello Everyone #8 (permalink) Wed Feb 18, 2009 5:04 am   Hello Everyone

...

Hi Tars..

It is almost normal, in my opinion, to have an average reading speed of 160 wpm as English is our second language. So don't worry. Keep this pace with better comprehension. Try to read more and more to increase your vocabulary.

It is calculated that an average human being thinks around 500 wpm and speaks only 100 wpm in his native language.

Have a nice experience..
..
