TOEFL® essay: In general people are living longer now...

This is my second essay, I'll be grateful if you share your thoughts on the matter and help me improve my writing, cause it's very bad. Thank you in advance!

In general people are living longer now. Discuss the causes of this phenomenon. Use specific reasons and details to develop your essay.

Most of the well known sociologists (like Francis Fukuyama) explain the increase in population and the reason they are living longer with invention of technology like the printing press and advancement in science. There is recorded evidence that the printing press helped people to spread the written word faster and cheaper than ever before, causing the change in educational systems around the world and leading to discovery of new technologies and medicines. Wide spread education was one of the consequences of cheap text books, which helped people to learn how to keep up their hygiene, how to eat better and how to improve their lives.
But books provided scholars with better, quicker and easier way to exchange ideas and to learn about effects of new researches. That led to advance in science and the discovery of cure for diseases that were causing more than 40% of death cases in every country.
Meanwhile the advancement in science drove technology innovation forward, which resulted in reducing the poverty by increasing the food supplies, manufactured in agriculture. This era is known as the industrial revolution. People were able to generate more food and to exchange it for goods they needed.
The last transition was the information revolution, which shifted the use of human capital from agriculture to knowledge production, discovering solutions for diseases and world problems, never solved before. It also changed way people entered war conflicts. The technology progress brought the use of specialized weapons and less human casualties.
According to me publishing, education and science revolution are the main causes for this phenomenon and I sure hope that development of technology in 21 century will help us fight with remaining poverty and stop starvation in regions such as Africa ones and forever.
