1. I wonder if you can help me = I have my doubt that you will help me

2.Well, my problem is that I'm lost = Well,my problem is that I can't find my way to my target

"I wonder if you can help me" simply means "I'd like to know if you can help me". Your second sentence can mean that the person is in a very confusing situation and doesn't know what to do.
