Go the extra smile is a word play on the phrase go the extra mile.
It basically means if you give a smile, you will get a smile.
It has been adopted in the world of customer service employees and there are now many training courses named in this way. |

My problem in learning English is that I understand each single word, but when they are put into sentences, I'm lost... ><"
p.s. Is "go" in "go the extra mile" a transitive verb? Does "go" here mean "move"? |

You must remember that to go somewhere does NOT always mean travel.
In thinking you can go somewhere, a contract or a situation (inanimate objects) can go somewhere ... |
